Mr Ismail has gone above and beyond to sort out my cataract problems, diagnosed in March 2026. He has shown immense kindness and patience in coping with my severe white coat syndrome and claustrophobia, as well as my severe kidney problems, which meant I could not have sedation.

Since July 2026, he has successfully operated on both my eyes. There was no pain and no need to worry, and he has restored my ability to remain independent. I would highly recommend Mr Ismail who carried out cataract surgery on both my eyes. After a routine annual check up at the optometrist it became apparent that I had cataracts in both eyes. I saw Mr Ismail a couple of weeks later and within 6 weeks both eyes were operated on and my vision has considerably improved.

What put my mind at ease was Mr Ismail’s gentle approach, explaining everything fully and clearly. On the surgery days, his whole team were equally thorough. Additionally the aftercare (including written communications) and advice for the future was delivered with clarity.

For me personally, Mr Ismail helped me solve a medical problem with minimal anxiety and I felt completely at ease under his care.

I had YAG capsulotomy by Mr Ismail less than a week after finding the vision in my left eye was blurred. For someone who is 89 years old, that is smugly satisfying. The week included a visit to the optician, referral to the NHS Eye care single point of access, discussions with Mr Ismail’s very efficient secretary and a weekend. Advice from the optician, checking the literature and discussion with my sister who had the procedure some time ago, all pointed to the same thing - “it’s quick, it works, get on with it”.

The appointment with Mr Ismail went very well. His relaxed and friendly manner put me at ease immediately. His description of the procedure and likely outcomes was clear, concise and very professional. It was also confidence building. The operation itself was completely painless and only took a few minutes. As I left the surgery I could already see that the vision in the eye was clear.

The following day the vision in the left eye was completely clear and it has remained that way. A follow up appointment showed that everything has settled. It has all gone exactly as described by Mr Ismail.

If I need treatment on the other eye in the future, I will definitely go to Mr Ismail.

I would tell people to be prepared for a shock when they first look in a mirror after the procedure. Also I found that a Gel eye mask helped reduce the swelling.

Mr Ismail is a good surgeon who explains everything clearly and concisely before and after the procedure.

I would say that I am very happy with the result of the procedure.

Mr Ismail was very informative and explained the surgery to me in a very clear and easy to understand manner. He also explained that there is very little down time for this surgery and that there would be no bruising, which was the case. I had a tiny tube connecting my eyelid to my tear duct which was only slightly uncomfortable and there was no pain. It was not noticeable unless someone was very close to my face. The surgery went well. I had been warned that I might have nose bleeds but it was only slight for a couple of days.

The outcome of the surgery was excellent. Even in the hospital, I was aware that my eye was no longer dripping and this has continued since I came home. I am so happy not to continually tell people that I'm not crying!

As it concerned my eyes, I did a lot of research before deciding on xanthelasmata excision surgery. I’m pleased I did the research and more than pleased that I chose Mr Ismail.

Beyond skill and qualifications, I find it reassuring when a physician asks questions and listens properly, and is calm, honest and open.
